Today's Gaming Deals: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, Shuten Order and MLB The Show 26 Lead the Pack

A new batch of game deals has arrived, and this one spans a nice mix of genres. Role-playing fans, baseball die-hards and anyone chasing something a little different all have a reason to check their wishlists.

Leading the roundup is Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, the ground-up remake of the series' beloved opening entry. For newcomers to the long-running Trails saga, it is about as friendly an entry point as exists. The story follows young bracers Estelle and Joshua as they get pulled into a conspiracy that grows well beyond their small corner of the world. If you have been meaning to start the franchise, a discount removes one more excuse.

Shuten Order is also on the list. It is a quirkier pick, and the sort of game that tends to reward players who go in curious rather than with a fixed idea of what they want. Deals are often the best way to take a chance on a title like this without much risk to your wallet.

Sports fans get their turn with MLB The Show 26. Annual sports releases usually see their steepest cuts once the season is well underway, so anyone who held off at launch is in a good spot to jump in now. The Show remains the standard for baseball games on consoles, with deep franchise and online modes that can eat up hours.

As always with sales like these, availability and pricing vary by store and region, and offers can end without warning. Check the listing for your platform before you commit, and compare storefronts if you can, since the same game is sometimes cheaper in one place than another.

If your backlog is already towering, it is worth being picky. A good deal only counts if you will actually play the game. But for a remake as well regarded as Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, or a new baseball season on your console, today's discounts are worth a close look.
