Riot Sends 2XKO Out With a Final Trailer and a Secret Fighter

Riot Games is preparing to close the book on 2XKO, and it wants one last moment in the spotlight. The studio has released a final gameplay trailer for the fighting game, which is set to be sunset later this year.

The trailer is more than a farewell montage. It also teases a surprise character who will join the roster alongside the game's last major update, arriving this month. Riot has kept the identity of the new fighter under wraps, so players will have to wait for the update to see who it is.

Riot's move into fighting games drew plenty of attention, since the company is best known for League of Legends and its wider universe of champions. 2XKO never gained the traction its developers hoped for, and the decision to shut it down is a reminder of how hard it is to build a competitive fighter from scratch, even with a well-known name behind it.

For the players still logging in, the final update gives them a reason to return before the servers go quiet. Anyone with a stake in the game should check Riot's official announcements for the exact shutdown date and what happens to player progress and purchases once it ends.
