Naughty Dog Reportedly Building a New Uncharted, and It's Not a Remake
Rumors·October 2, 2026

Uncharted may be coming back. According to a report from MP1st, Naughty Dog is in the early stages of developing a new entry in the action-adventure series, and it is described as an original game rather than a remake or remaster.
The report says series protagonist Nathan Drake will appear in some form. The wording is notable, though. It suggests Drake may not be the main character this time, which would point to a shift in focus for the franchise, perhaps with a new lead or a supporting role for the familiar treasure hunter.
Neither Naughty Dog nor PlayStation has confirmed anything, so this should be treated as a rumor for now. The game is also said to be early in development, which means any release is likely still a long way off.
The timing is interesting. The last mainline Uncharted game, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, launched in 2016, followed by the standalone spinoff The Lost Legacy in 2017. Since then the series has mostly lived on through ports, a Legacy of Thieves Collection and the 2022 film adaptation. Fans have been asking for a proper new chapter for years.
Naughty Dog's own schedule is also a factor. The studio has been busy with The Last of Us Part II and its remaster, and it has other projects in the pipeline. A new Uncharted would sit alongside those efforts, so how it fits into the studio's plans remains an open question.
For now, the takeaway is simple. If MP1st's sources are right, Uncharted is not finished, and Nathan Drake's story may carry on in a new shape. Expect more details only if and when Sony decides to talk.
