Every Witcher 3 Copy Gets Free Remastered Upgrade Today

CD Projekt Red has settled any doubt about who gets the new Witcher 3 upgrade. The studio told Eurogamer that "all versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that exist in the world" will be updated to the free Remastered edition today.

In practice, that means you should not have to buy anything or hunt for a separate download. If you already own the game, the Remastered content is meant to arrive as an update to your existing copy.

The rollout begins at 11am BST. As with most large updates, it may reach different platforms and storefronts at slightly different moments, so players who do not see it right at the top of the hour may simply need to wait a little or restart their launcher or console.

The wording from CD Projekt Red is notably broad. Rather than naming a list of platforms or editions, the studio framed the upgrade as covering every copy of the game in circulation. That should reassure owners of older bundles and the Complete Edition, who often worry about being left out when a remaster is announced.

The move fits the studio's long-running reputation for generous post-launch support. Wild Hunt has been patched, expanded and reworked repeatedly since its original release, and a free remaster continues that approach rather than asking players to pay again for a game many already own.
