Xbox Game Pass in 2026: The Games Worth Your Time Right Now

Xbox Game Pass has become so large that picking what to play is its own challenge. The library now spans blockbuster AAA releases, day-one launches, overlooked indies and, thanks to the new Retro Classics addition, games from decades past. Here is a look at where the service stands and which titles are worth downloading first.

First, the business side, because it has changed. After Game Pass Ultimate climbed to $30 a month in late 2025, the price was cut to $23, but with a notable catch: new Call of Duty games no longer arrive at launch and will only join the library roughly a year after release. Game Pass Essential costs $10 a month and offers 50+ games with online multiplayer. Premium is $15 and lifts the catalog to 200 games. PC Game Pass runs $14, and Ultimate remains the top tier with day-one access, cloud streaming and extra perks. Note that some picks below may not be available on lower tiers, especially Essential.

For Xbox first-party fans, the recent highlights are strong. Forza Horizon 6 is a polished tour of Japan built for car culture. Halo: Campaign Evolved rebuilds the original campaign in Unreal Engine 5, adding sprinting and new co-op missions. Doom: The Dark Ages grounds the series in a stand-and-fight style, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle blends stealth, action and immersive-sim design. Obsidian is well represented with Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2 and the early access Grounded 2, and Gears of War: Reloaded still delivers that Lancer chainsaw thrill.

The indie and mid-size side is arguably where Game Pass shines brightest. Blue Prince, a first-person puzzler in a mansion that rearranges itself as you draft rooms, is one of 2025's best games. Hollow Knight: Silksong finally arrived and builds on the original's formula, while Nine Sols, Mio: Memories in Orbit and Minishoot Adventures give metroidvania and Zelda-style fans plenty more to explore. Deckbuilding roguelikes are covered by Balatro, Slay the Spire, Monster Train 2 and Vampire Crawlers, and Absolum offers a stylish roguelite beat-'em-up from the team that revived Streets of Rage.

Double Fine fans get two very different treats: the experimental Keeper and the inventive Psychonauts 2. Other standouts include Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Hell Is Us, South of Midnight, Celeste and the Ori duology.

Long-form RPG players are spoiled too. The Witcher 3 Complete Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Persona 5 Royal, Diablo IV, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire all sit in the library. Final Fantasy 6 anchors the classic JRPG offering.

Rounding things out are Batman: Arkham Knight, Resident Evil 7 and Village, Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ninja Gaiden 4, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, the five-a-side football game Rematch, Sea of Thieves, Manor Lords, Dune: Awakening and the cycling adventure Wheel World.
