Stellar Blade Hits Its Lowest PC Price Yet at $36.59

If you've been waiting for the right moment to pick up Stellar Blade on PC, this looks like it. Fanatical is currently selling Steam keys for the action game at $36.59 in the US or £30.49 in the UK, the lowest price the PC version has reached so far. The offer is limited-time, so it won't hang around forever.

The game casts you as Eve, a soldier dropped onto a ruined Earth alongside a group of super-soldier siblings. Humanity has retreated to space, and Eve's job is to take down the Naytibas, the creatures that overran the planet. That means fighting through the powerful Alpha Naytibas and eventually their leader, the Elder Naytiba. As you'd expect, the mission goes sideways pretty quickly.

Mechanically, Stellar Blade pairs the intensity of a hack-and-slash with action-RPG progression, landing somewhere between the two genres. Its story isn't the main draw, but the combat is, and that is what has helped it stand out as one of PlayStation's most distinctive action releases. It has since made the jump to PC as well.

GameSpot's own review from Imran Khan scored it 8/10. Khan wrote that they "came away from Stellar Blade having enjoyed the game quite a bit despite its foibles on the back of its incredibly strong systems." For players hunting for something to scratch the itch left by Nier-style action games, it's a solid fit, even if it isn't flawless.

There's also more to look forward to. A sequel, Blood Rain, is in the works, and this time the developer is publishing it themselves. That raises hopes that PC players won't have to sit through a PlayStation timed-exclusivity window and can play it at the same time as everyone else. Picking up the original now gives newcomers plenty of time to finish it before the follow-up arrives.
