RuneScape Reignited Arrives 2 December With a Clean Slate for Every Player

Jagex has set a date for RuneScape Reignited. The relaunch goes live on 2 December and is pitched as a clean slate for everyone, whether they have played for two decades, drifted away years ago, or never logged in at all.

The studio's framing is simple: no matter where a player is coming from, Reignited is meant to be a moment to start over together. That covers three groups Jagex clearly wants to bring under one roof. Long-time fans get a reason to revisit their accounts, lapsed players get a low-pressure way back in, and brand-new adventurers get an entry point that is not weighed down by more than twenty years of accumulated systems and progression.

The announcement is light on specifics so far, so it is not yet clear exactly how the fresh start will work in practice. Jagex has not detailed in the item we are working from how existing accounts and progress will be handled, or what changes to onboarding and content will define the relaunch. Those answers will matter to a community that has deep attachments to its characters and years of grinding.

The timing and messaging point to a broader push to re-energise RuneScape, a game that has long lived in the shadow of its own older sibling, Old School RuneScape, which has often drawn the bigger crowds. A reset-style relaunch is a familiar tactic for aging online games, and it can work when it respects what players already have while lowering the barrier for everyone else.

For now, 2 December is the date to mark. Expect Jagex to share more on what Reignited actually includes as launch day approaches, and for the RuneScape community to scrutinise every detail once it does.
