Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Switch Ports Look Likelier After Suspiciously Sharp Official Footage

Hoenn fans have a new reason to get excited. An official Pokémon channel has shared clips of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire that look nothing like the original Game Boy Advance releases, and the community is reading it as a strong hint that both games are coming to Nintendo Switch.

The footage is the key detail. Sprites and backgrounds appear noticeably sharper than anything the GBA's small screen could produce, which suggests the clips were captured from a modern system running the games at a higher resolution. Nothing has been confirmed, and no announcement accompanied the post, but the timing and the visual quality have been enough to set off speculation.

There is also a clear pattern to point to. The earlier third-generation titles, FireRed and LeafGreen, have already made the jump to Switch, so Ruby and Sapphire would complete the set of that generation's handheld games. Having the Kanto remakes available on the console while the Hoenn originals remain stuck on old hardware has long looked like an odd gap.
