Nolan North Is "110%" In for Uncharted 5, But Fears a Crystal Skull Situation

Nolan North, the voice and face of Nathan Drake, says he would jump at the chance to play the treasure hunter again. Speaking at Gamergy in Puerto Rico, before the latest wave of Uncharted 5 rumors surfaced, the actor said he is "110%" ready to return and even tries to stay in shape just in case the call comes. "I can't see a scenario where I would say no," he said, according to comments relayed by DomTheBomb.

North stressed that he has heard nothing from Naughty Dog or Sony about a new game. His pitch is more of a fan's wish backed by business logic. He argued that an Uncharted revival would be among the biggest announcements in gaming, and that the only real question is whether Sony wants to make that money. In his words, that is not hyperbole.

He also made clear that his enthusiasm comes from experience. North enjoyed his years working with Naughty Dog across the four mainline Uncharted games, which ran through 2016's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. He did not appear in the spinoff The Lost Legacy, though he did show up in a cameo in the Uncharted film.

There is one condition. North does not want the series to stumble on its way back, and he pointed to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as the cautionary tale: a middling entry in an otherwise beloved run. If Drake returns, he wants it to be worth it.

The timing matters because multiple sources claim a fifth mainline Uncharted is Naughty Dog's next project after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which is reportedly due in 2027. A third The Last of Us game could come after that. The same reporting says Nathan Drake would feature in some capacity, which is notable given that Uncharted 4 was framed as the definitive end of his story. Naughty Dog, for its part, has repeatedly hinted it is not finished with the franchise.

None of this is confirmed, and no release window exists. If the rumors hold, the sheer distance from Intergalactic suggests Uncharted 5 would more plausibly land on PlayStation 6, which Sony is expected to launch sometime in 2028. For now, the star of the series is ready, and waiting on a phone call that may or may not be coming.
