Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Slips to January 2027, Paid Expansion Arrives Alongside It

Forza Horizon 6 won't reach PlayStation 5 this year. Sony has confirmed the PS5 version will launch on January 26, 2027, which matches a date the reliable leaker billbil-kun shared earlier. That is a clear change from September, when Microsoft said the PS5 port remained on track for 2026. The game has been out since May on Xbox Series X|S and PC, where it earned strong reviews, including an 8/10 from GameSpot. PlayStation players have been waiting for their turn since then.

The PS5 version was built by Panic Button, the studio that brought Forza Horizon 5 to PlayStation 5, with Playground Games and Turn 10 working closely on the port. It will ship as a physical disc at retail and as a digital download. There is a 4K 30fps Quality mode and a 60fps Performance mode. Cross-play and cross-saves work with the Xbox and Steam versions, and all user-generated content is shared across platforms. Anyone who preorders on PS5 gets a pre-tuned Ferrari J50 that appears in their garage after finishing the prologue. Premium Edition buyers get early access starting January 21.

Microsoft also announced the first paid expansion, which launches on January 21, 2027. It comes with the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade, and the Expansions Bundle, or it can be bought on its own at a price that has not been revealed yet. Microsoft has not said what the expansion contains. It is the first of two planned paid expansions. A free content update for every player on every platform is also coming in 2027, timed with the PS5 launch and the expansion. Microsoft says it will share more details closer to release.

The delay fits a wider reorganization at Microsoft's racing studios. Turn 10 and Playground Games are merging into a single studio to support and grow the Forza brand. Forza Horizon 5 was a major hit on PlayStation 5, so expectations for this launch are high, and the January date will give the team a few more months to get the port right.
