Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Weigh In Around 200GB, Director Confirms
Square Enix·September 29, 2026

With about six months to go before Final Fantasy 7 Revelation closes out the Remake trilogy, one number is dominating conversation: the install size. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has now put a figure on it, saying the finale will come in at around 200GB.
That is a big footprint even by current standards, and it has fed a wider debate about whether the game is getting bigger at the expense of being better. Hamaguchi has been fielding questions on exactly that theme, with fans asking whether the scale comes from meaningful content or from padding.
Part of the criticism is aimed at the optional side activities that have split opinion across the Remake series. Players who felt earlier entries leaned too hard on filler are wary of a final chapter that appears to be growing even larger. Hamaguchi's position is that size and quality are not the same conversation, and that the team is not chasing bulk for its own sake.
The size also has a practical consequence. Revelation will not ship entirely on disc at launch, because the amount of content is too much to fit. Players will need to download part of the game, which makes storage space and connection speed a real consideration for anyone planning to pick it up on day one.
Hamaguchi also spoke about post-launch plans, detailing DLC that focuses on Sephiroth and Vincent Valentine. Both are fan favorites, and Vincent in particular has long been one of the most requested characters from the original game to get more spotlight in the Remake era. Sephiroth, meanwhile, has been central to the story from the start, so extra material built around him is an easy sell for longtime followers.
For now, the message from the director is that the finale is enormous, and that the team stands behind what it is putting in. Whether that reassures skeptics will depend on how the game plays when it arrives. Anyone on a console or PC with limited storage may want to start clearing space well ahead of release.
