Dark Souls 2 Finally Gets Its Seamless Co-op Mod
Mods·September 29, 2026

Dark Souls 2 is finally getting the co-op treatment the rest of the series has enjoyed for years. A seamless multiplayer mod for Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin has arrived in alpha form, letting friends play the entire game together with drop-in, drop-out co-op.
The mod comes from Yui, the modder behind the seamless co-op projects for Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring and Armored Core. Those mods have become a staple for FromSoftware fans who want to tackle the games with friends without the usual limits of summons, area restrictions and boss-fight-only help. Scholar of the First Sin was the only entry in the Dark Souls trilogy that had gone years without one, a gap that many in the community had noticed.
Yui has now returned to close it. The alpha release is public, so anyone with the game can try it, though the usual caveats apply. An alpha means bugs, rough edges and missing features are likely, and players should expect to run into problems while the mod is refined.
The timing is a good fit for anyone looking to revisit one of the most divisive games in the series. Dark Souls 2 has a reputation for its odd design choices, sprawling roster of bosses and areas full of enemies, and tackling all of that with a friend by your side changes the experience considerably. Playing through the whole campaign together, without being kicked out of a session every time someone dies or a boss falls, is the kind of quality-of-life upgrade the community has asked for.
With this release, every mainline Dark Souls game now has a seamless co-op option, and Yui's track record suggests the mod will improve quickly as feedback comes in. Fans interested in trying the alpha should keep an eye on the mod's official page for updates and known issues.
